Jackson McDonald announces new construction partner Tom Jacobs1 July 2013
Jackson McDonald, Western Australia's leading independent law firm, announced the appointment of construction and infrastructure lawyer Tom Jacobs to the firm’s partnership, effective today.
Chairman of Partners, Richard Sandover said, “Tom commenced his legal career with Jackson McDonald. Tom then went overseas to the UK where he worked in the construction teams at both global firm Eversheds and national firm Flint Bishop, which involved working on complex capital development projects, contentious disputes and due diligence for large multi million pound developments. Tom then moved back to his home town Perth to coincide with the buoyant WA economic conditions and the potential in the WA construction industry where he re-joined our successful Project, Infrastructure and Construction Team. Tom’s promotion adds to the depth of our team, on the ground, and in Western Australia.”
Tom has extensive experience in contract, major project drafting and advice as well as all forms of construction dispute resolution. He has assisted on the successful delivery of significant infrastructure projects for leading clients in the health, logistics, education, energy and water industries.
Recent projects Tom has acted on include:
- Advising a national contractor on its multi-million dollar claims for additional cost and expense arising out of the construction of a $300 million railway infrastructure project for one of the country’s major mining companies;
- Advising a government department in relation to a major inner city infrastructure project, advising on procurement documentation, two stage managing contractor contract, all professional consultancy appointments and other construction documentation including guarantees, bonds and deeds; and
- Assisting a mining services contractor to obtain a series of successful rapid adjudication determinations against a major international head contractor on issues arising out of one of the largest iron ore projects in the Pilbara.
