Associate/Senior Associate Lawyer - Workplace Relations & Safety

We are currently seeking an experienced Associate/Senior Associate with a minimum of 4 years post-admission experience. We welcome applications for both full-time and part-time roles. 

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a collaborative team which strives to provide practical solutions to the complex workplace relations and safety problems that our clients face. The team provides advice to a range of businesses and not for profit associations, operating across multiple industry sectors, local government, and education institutions.

As an Associate/Senior Associate, with the support of the partners in the team, Renae Harding and Greg Smith, you will have responsibility for the day-to-day conduct of matters. You will be involved in advising on claims of unfair and unlawful dismissal, harassment, discrimination and on safety prosecutions.  In dispute situations, you will be seeking resolutions through mediation and if required, through litigation representing clients in court, commission and tribunal hearings, mediations and conciliations. 

You will work closely with high-profile clients advising or assisting on a wide range of employment and safety related issues, including:

• employment contracts and policies;
• enterprise bargaining and industrial action;
• unfair dismissal, breach of award and adverse action claims;
• advising on legislative requirements and award conditions;
• discrimination matters;
• safety and employment investigations;
• advising on and implementing employment arrangements in transfer of business situations;
• WHS advice, serious incident response and safety prosecutions;
• opportunities for appearance work in litigious matters including attending conciliation and mediation conferences, instructing Counsel and, if you are interested, conducting hearings; and
• developing and delivering training for clients on workplace relations and safety matters.

Our successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

• minimum of 4 years post-admission experience; 
• proven experience in Workplace Relations and Safety matters;
• a proactive, innovative and energetic approach;
• the ability to meet timeframes, deadlines and be well organised;
• high legal standards - accuracy and attention to detail in drafting is crucial;
• proven ability to manage challenging situations in a professional manner;
• excellent verbal and written communication skills; and
• strong analytical ability.
