Jackson McDonald appoints Mark MacLennan as Partner, strengthening disputes and defence capability

Jackson McDonald is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark MacLennan as Partner in the firm’s Disputes Group, further strengthening its commercial litigation capability and expanding its focus on the defence sector.

Mark joins the firm with nearly four decades of legal experience, advising clients across complex commercial and corporate disputes. His appointment reflects Jackson McDonald’s continued investment in senior talent to support Western Australian businesses operating in growth sectors including defence, construction and major projects.

Mark is a trusted adviser to SMEs and major corporates in the defence, construction and engineering sectors. In addition to his disputes expertise, he will lead the firm’s targeted defence sector focus, aligning with increasing investment and activity across Western Australia and nationally.

Chairperson Elizabeth Tylich said the appointment demonstrates the firm’s commitment to supporting industries that contribute to the State’s economic resilience and growth.

Mark joins Jackson McDonald after 15 years with Bennett Law Firm. He was previously a Partner at Lavan for 11 years and earlier practised in New Zealand as a Partner at Harkness Henry Lawyers in Hamilton, bringing a valuable trans-Tasman perspective to clients operating across jurisdictions.

His expertise has been recognised in Doyle’s Guide, where he has been listed as a Recommended Lawyer in Leading Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution Lawyers – Western Australia in multiple years, including 2025.

Mark said he was delighted to join the firm at a time of strategic growth.
