Jackson McDonald has appointed Malcolm Taylor as a Consultant, strengthening the firm's commitment to supporting Australia’s defence industry.
Malcolm is nationally recognised for his deep expertise in defence procurement, complex bid preparation, and high-value contract negotiation. Most recently, Malcolm served as Managing Director of Luerssen Australia, where he played a pivotal role in brokering and delivering the $2 billion SEA 1180 Offshore Patrol Vessel project for the Commonwealth, one of Australia's most significant naval procurement programs.
Prior to his executive career in defence, Malcolm was Managing Partner at a Melbourne commercial law firm, where he led a substantial defence industry legal practice. This dual background combining legal acumen with commercial and operational leadership, gives him a rare perspective on the drivers of defence primes, subcontractors, and government stakeholders alike.
Malcolm’s appointment signals the firm's commitment to building a genuinely specialised capability in this sector.
Mark MacLennan (lead partner of Jackson McDonald's defence practice) said: "Defence is a significant and growing area of focus for our firm. Malcolm's appointment positions us to offer clients, across Australia, deep defence industry knowledge combined with serious legal expertise."
Malcolm Taylor said: "Jackson McDonald has built a strong reputation in the sectors that matter most to defence - construction, infrastructure, disputes and commercial law. I'm looking forward to working with Mark and the broader team to connect expertise and opportunities across the industry."
