For 25 years Matt was a Jackson McDonald partner specialising in energy reform, regulation and energy transactions. He now consults full-time on our energy sector’s once-in-a-century transformation, but also continues to consult as part of the Jackson McDonald team.
Matt has spent almost 30 years helping governments deliver energy and other reforms, and helping private clients navigate those reforms and operate within the resulting regulated markets.
Matt has a particular interest in remote hybrid power, and in helping electricity grids accommodate deep penetration of intermittent renewable energy.
Infrastructure access is a special subject for Matt. He has personally authored several statutory and contractual access regimes covering electricity, gas, rail, port and other infrastructure, and has advised clients under several others. He knows this subject from every perspective -- asset owner, access seeker, regulator and policy maker. A Chambers & Partners respondent said: “Shout out to Matt Bowen, he's my market go-to for regulated infrastructure - he gets every gig and is very good!”
Matt is a self-proclaimed energy nerd, who speaks fluently the disparate 'languages' of engineering, regulation, policy and economics. He can help translate these languages for you and your stakeholders, and his cross-disciplinary blend of knowledge and experience can help you develop and deliver your own decarbonisation strategy.
