Matt has been a litigation partner at Jackson McDonald since 2014 and leads a team that specialises in resolving property and planning related disputes. The team works closely with Jackson McDonald’s Real Estate team and understands the strategic and commercial objectives that drive our property clients. The fact that Matt and his team 'live and breathe' property means they are true experts in the area.

Matt’s clients include land developers, local governments, property investors, high-net-worth families, commercial landlords and tenants, retirement village operators and social housing providers. He represents clients in all Western Australian courts and the State Administrative Tribunal and is experienced in handling complex and document-intensive litigation.

Having worked with local governments over many years, Matt has an extensive working knowledge of the Local Government Act and Local Government Regulations. In addition to assisting local governments with property and planning related matters, he also works with them to resolve general contentious matters and regularly advises in regard to misconduct, policy, probity and governance matters.

Matt is also recognised by many of the leading retirement village operators in Western Australia as being the 'go to' lawyer for resolving contentious matters and providing advice as to the operation of the Retirement Village Act, Regulations and Code in a dispute context.
