At the forefront of AI-powered legal technology

Jackson McDonald is among the first businesses in Australia to deploy Relativity's generative AI tools in live matters, delivering faster, smarter outcomes for clients.

AI-Assisted Document Review: An Australian First

As the volume and complexity of data in litigation and regulatory matters continues to grow, Jackson McDonald has taken a decisive step forward in how we approach document review.

Our disputes team recently deployed RelativityOne's aiR for Review, a generative AI-powered tool for relevance assessment, issue tagging, and document analysis, on a significant document production matter involving an initial dataset of more than 1.5 million potentially relevant documents.

We were among the first businesses (not just legal practices) in Australia to do so, deploying the technology at around the same time as Woolworths, whose eDiscovery team was recently recognised for pioneering the use of aiR for Review during the ACCC Supermarkets Inquiry as "an Australian legal first".

Woolworths Group is Australia's largest company. The fact that Jackson McDonald sits alongside that team in early adoption of emerging AI reflects where we stand on legal technology.

Already Deploying the Next Generation

RelativityOne's aiR for Case Strategy was released for general availability on 12 January 2026. Designed to accelerate case narrative development, extract key facts, and generate document summaries, it represents the next evolution in AI-assisted dispute resolution.

Within weeks of its global launch, our disputes team has already received instructions to deploy aiR for Case Strategy on a number of new matters.

What This Means for Clients

For our clients, the adoption of these tools translates to:

  • Significantly reduced time and cost on large-scale document review
  • Greater accuracy and consistency in issue identification
  • Faster case strategy development from day one
  • A legal team that is genuinely at the frontier of how law is practised in Australia.

We will continue to assess and adopt emerging legal technology where it delivers measurable benefit — and we will keep our clients informed as our capability grows.
